The game creator Will Wright was inspired to create a game that was like a virtual dollhouse after he lost his house during the Oakland firestorm in 1991 and had to rebuild his life. The Sims franchise has been developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts originally released in 2000, the franchise has spawned four games total, countless expansion packs. Not too long ago one of the most popular video game franchises in history celebrated its 20th anniversary and reached a milestone of selling 200 million franchise copies of The Sims games.
